April Mission Possible Update
Throughout April, Trinity joined congregations across Illinois in lifting up the life‑changing work of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI)—one of the state’s largest and longest‑serving social service organizations. Since 1867, LSSI has been a steady, compassionate presence for children, families, seniors, and individuals facing some of life’s most difficult challenges.
This year’s Mission Possible spotlight helped our congregation learn more about the breadth of LSSI’s ministries, including foster care, mental health services, addiction treatment, senior housing, home care, and support for families impacted by incarceration. In 2025 alone, LSSI walked alongside more than 62,000 Illinois residents, offering stability, dignity, and hope through programs that meet real needs in real time.
On Good Shepherd Sunday (April 26), Trinity welcomed Rev. Kelly Nieman Anderson and Teri Gens, who shared stories of LSSI’s impact and the importance of the partnership between local congregations and the three ELCA synods that help sustain this work.
Thanks to the generosity of the Trinity community, $2,145 was raised during April’s Mission Possible initiative—funds that will directly support LSSI’s mission of bringing healing, safety, and opportunity to neighbors across Illinois.
We give thanks for everyone who contributed, prayed, learned, and helped shine a light on this vital ministry. Together, we continue to live out God’s call to love and serve our neighbors.
