Pastoral Transition
On June 8, Church Council shared the news that Pastor Erik Christensen has been elected Bishop of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod. Pastor Erik’s final Sunday at Trinity will be July 26, and his final day in the office will be July 30. Church Council is working with synod leadership to determine the next steps in the pastoral transition process and begin preparations for the search for our next pastor.
While this transition comes sooner than anticipated, the Council’s primary goal throughout this process is to guide Trinity forward through this unexpected period of change, building on our many strengths while providing transparency of process, administrative support for staff, and ongoing member support through worship and pastoral care.

Establishing a Call Committee
Trinity Lutheran Church’s bylaws outline a clear process for forming the Call Committee. The president invites voting members of the congregation to volunteer for the Call Committee, the Church Council recommends a proposed committee, and the congregation approves the Call Committee as a whole before its work begins. The dates for this process are outlined below.
By Sunday, July 19: Any voting member interested in serving is invited to email Jason Reno, Church Council President, to express their interest.
Tuesday, July 21: The names of all interested volunteers will be shared with the Church Council.
Tuesday, July 28: The Church Council will meet to recommend a proposed Call Committee that reflects the congregation as a whole.
Sunday, August 9: The proposed Call Committee will be presented to the congregation for approval at a special congregational meeting following worship.
