Church Council Update—July 12
Dear Trinity,
Thank you to everyone who participated in the June 28 Town Hall. We are grateful for your thoughtful questions, your encouragement, and your commitment to Trinity’s future.
During the Town Hall, several members asked about the process for forming Trinity’s Call Committee. After reviewing our bylaws and consulting with Interim Bishop Wayne Miller and Pastor Erik, the Church Council has determined that we will complete the Call Committee formation process in accordance with Trinity’s bylaws.
Our bylaws outline a clear process for forming the Call Committee. The president invites voting members of the congregation to volunteer for the Call Committee, the Church Council recommends a proposed committee, and the congregation approves the committee as a whole before its work begins.
Accordingly, we invite any voting member of Trinity who feels called to serve on the Call Committee to express your interest.
By Sunday, July 19: Any voting member interested in serving is invited to email Jason Reno expressing your interest.
Tuesday, July 21: The names of all interested volunteers will be shared with the Church Council, as required by our bylaws.
Tuesday, July 28: The Church Council will meet to recommend a proposed Call Committee that reflects the congregation as a whole.
Sunday, August 9: The proposed Call Committee will be presented to the congregation for approval at a special congregational meeting following worship. This letter serves as first notice of that meeting.
Those who have already expressed a willingness to serve will be included in the pool of interested volunteers and do not need to respond again.
While these governance steps are completed, work on updating Trinity’s Ministry Site Profile will continue so the Call Committee can begin its work immediately following congregational approval.
We are grateful to those who have already expressed a willingness to serve, and we look forward to hearing from others who may feel called to participate. Calling Trinity’s next pastor is one of the most important responsibilities we share as a congregation, and we are committed to carrying out that work with care, transparency, and faith.
Thank you for your continued prayers as we seek God’s guidance for Trinity’s next chapter.
Jason Reno
President, Church Council
