Founded 125 years ago by Scandinavian immigrants, we still welcome Scandinavian immigrants. But we also welcome with open arms people from every nationality and ethnicity, every walk of life, all ages, all educational backgrounds genders and gender identities, political affiliations and socioeconomic strata.

We’re active in social ministry in our own community and elsewhere. Though Trinity is involved in many social ministries, our current emphases include a cooperative venture with the other Evanston-based Lutheran churches in an affordable housing program for young people. Through the years we have worked to resettle refugee families from China, Bosnia, Ethiopia and the Central African Republic. Currently, we are working toward sponsorship of an Asylum seeking family in conjunction with 2 other Evanston congregations.. Our High School youth group also takes part in social ministry through annual service trips where they seek to be “the hands and feet of Christ”.

Speaking of the youth program, in addition to the High School group, we have a multifaceted Sunday school that meets weekly through the school year for pre-k through junior high students. Our Junior High program includes almost 20 youth and focuses on Confirmation. This is a place where children and families are welcomed, nurtured and celebrated.

We love to learn, and have study groups for men and a book chat for women. In non-pandemic times, Sunday mornings tend to have an educational opportunity for all on issues as diverse as social justice, worship, ethics, theology, the Bible and more. We hope to continue these opportunities as our COVID numbers abate.

We are a caring congregation with a strong Stephen Ministry program that provides compassionate spiritual care to those living through tough times. In addition, our Deaconess group provides connection and care with our more senior members and others in need of a bit more attention.

We worship in a decidedly Lutheran flavor and are blessed with a diverse group of musicians. We incorporate different styles of music and liturgies into our worship.
