Tools for the Journey: An Eight Week study of Eckhardt Tolle's "The Power of Now"
(September 27-November 15)
Jesus says in Matthew 6:34, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Clearly being in the present moment is very important to Jesus. For most of us, however, being in the present is more difficult than it seems. If we can get there, the payoff can be a peace that comes from a deep connectedness to life and to God. Society, as well as our own brains, put up all types of roadblocks to truly being in the present moment. Through a process of study and experience, we believe that there is an opportunity to make living in the present moment a more viable option for each of us. Come join us as we discuss this theory of connecting to the Divine in our daily walk and learn practical tools to aid in this pursuit.
The class will be facilitated by Tom Ross and Paul Lindman. We will read "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle as our text for this class. While Tolle calls himself a spiritual teacher, not specifically a Christian writer, he offers some wonderful perceptions and tools to help us live in the now and helps us understand the meaning of Christ's words in a new, deep way. The book is available on Amazon (including Kindle) or at any local bookstore. The class will meet at church at 7:30PM Monday evenings beginning September 27 and running through November 15.
