Liturgical Dance

Praise His name in the dance: let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp.
Psalm 149:3

In the Hebrew tradition, dance functioned as a medium of prayer and praise, as an expression of joy and reverence, and as a mediator between God and humanity. To the Early Christian Church the purpose of liturgical movement was to bring glory and honor to God and to take the focus off of the self.

We are blessed to have one of our members, Katie Bullerman, begin a liturgical dance group here. Katie is a professional dancer and choreographer. She has choreographed, directed and performed liturgical dance in several churches.

Dance opportunies for children and adults are offered on an ad hoc basis. Anyone who has at least two years of ballet, modern or jazz dance training is welcome to participate. Call Katie Bullerman at her studio (773) 262-3262 or Jodee Vragel at (847) 491-1986 for more information and to let us know you are interested.
