Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another.

Through one-to one-caring relationships that are confidential, Stephen Ministers extend the pastoral care of our clergy by providing weekly Christian support for those who are facing one or more of life’s many challenges.

Stephen Ministers complete an intensive training and commit to two years of service.  They are involved in ongoing peer supervision and continuing education.  While they are not therapists, problems solvers, casual visitors or errand runners, they are individuals who care, support, pray and listen by being present for up to one year with their care receiver.

Who should receive the care of a Stephen Minister?

…A man like Abraham, who had to leave behind everything he knew and loved and needed someone to journey with him to a new life.

…A woman like Sarah, who faced major changes in her life at an advanced age and needed someone to listen to both her joy and fear.

…A man like Peter, who found himself in over his head and needed the strong hand of a faithful friend.

…A woman life Mary Magdalene, who received healing from inner turmoil and needed someone to walk with her as she built a new life.

….A man like you.  A woman like you.
