It happened once again just a few days ago. When being introduced, I was referenced as "My Pastor."
I always appreciate that designation. There's a difference:
That's why I am honored when someone talks about me and says, "He's my pastor."
Following Jesus' resurrection, the Bible tells us that the apostle Thomas was reluctant to believe that Jesus really was alive. However, when Jesus presented himself, Thomas didn't just say, "It's really you." Instead, Thomas fully embraced the risen Christ and testified, "My Lord and My God!"
An incredible witness to acceptance and relationship is expressed with the possessive pronoun. Every time I hear it, I am grateful to be labeled "my pastor." I'm sure our God is pleased when He is similarly identified and embraced.
