Remember that you are dust...

And to dust you shall return.

Today is the day, it is the beginning of our journey to Easter.  For some, myself included, Lent is a time of wilderness.

It is a journey, a time where we wait, where we are tempted, and where our faith grows and is strengthened.  We walk with Jesus in his journey to the cross.  We remember his life, and anticipate his death and his resurrection.

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing at all during those days, and when they were over, he was famished.   Luke 4:1-2

Today is Ash Wednesday.  We gather today, receive a symbol of the cross in Ash, and remember our need for repentance.  We begin our journey into the wilderness.

I have approached a few of our congregation members and invited them to share their thoughts on this wilderness journey.  Please check back for reflections throughout Lent.
